Scanner is from Java 1.5.
Java 1.6 has a new Console class.
I, however, am stuck with Java 1.4 (job requirement).

I knew about this method years ago, but I still can't figure out how to NOT wait for the Enter key.

In other words, I want to get each character in the keyboard buffer. I want to have my program take different actions if the user presses special hot keys, not hot key+Enter. Ah, well, I'll keep looking.

Richard,

My audience isn't Linux users, it's Windows users. Over 95% of my audience is on either Windows or OS X. Besides, the flash video is only if you want to watch it on the site... you can download the original H.264 video and watch it with VLC if you like.

You're kidding, right? With a title like "Moving to Linux, Second Edition" and you're using Flash Player 8. I guess you don't want to share this information with people who've already moved to Linux. You must know that Linux users only have the option of Flash Player 7 or 9, and 9 is still fairly new. How about "Gotchya" instead of "Ooops". It's more fitting.

Hey - I'm not sure what java.util.Scanner is - but I found your blog post on how to handle stdio and console input from a java app and it solved my problem beautifully. thanks man. I won't lie, it is waaay easier to do this in C#. But no sense nitpicking.

Overall, I liked the show.

I was a little disappointed to see that this was described on the top of your web page as a daily show, but it hasn't been done on a daily basis. Last show was dated April 11th it's now the 17th. Maybe that descriptor should be taken from the web site?

Also, I think an actual link to your e-mail address would be handy.

Other than those two little things, I think this is a good beginning for a pod cast.

Love the near-daily format.

Hate the "you're using firefox, right? Right? Right? Right?" Extremely annoying, especially because I know how to use IE securely.

Use "Very interesting, to say the least" less often.
Use "which is a good thing" less often.

What is Studio BR2? The second bedroom in your house?

If you're tired, don't tell us. If you don't want to do the show so late, don't do it or do it earlier.

Good Day, I enjoy your show! I find it very informative, even though I still get some of the same information from newletters, you give information that I don't read or don't get time to read. I do like how you give out the web sites from where you get your information, because then I can go to those sites if I want more information or more in-deepth of it. Thanks for your podcasts. I like all 3 that you produce, I get most of my apple news from your apple cast.

Cheers, and keep up the good work.
